We’ve received some feedback about the Representation in Romance Directory project that led us to reflect on intention versus impact and how this project othered people. While we have had authors eager to share their info, we also understood that it was not something everyone wanted to participate in.
With all of this in mind, we re-examined our mission statement of amplifying the voices of underrepresented authors and decided that this project did not serve our mission. Instead, we will be seeking out existing resources, such as WOCinRomance and Corey’s Book Corner, and promoting those. We will use the information already submitted for book recommendations and as a resource for monthly book picks. We appreciate all the feedback we received.
